This was launched by Joe Weimer, who saw a need to provide for those less fortunate. “I knew Wiley Metal would come together to donate as many items as possible. I realized the only obstacle was starting the fundraiser.” Almost immediately after the competition began, Joe recalls all shifts competing against each other. Every shift was checking the tracker, to see how many items they needed to donate to regain 1st place. “There was a spark of excitement on the shop floor which led to a total donation exceeding 1,400 items.” The competition was simple, total donations per shift per employee wins a dinner on behalf of Wiley Metal. Half way through the competition, St. Martin was informed of the progress. This is when St. Martin informed Joe of their current lack of tooth brushes and tubes of tooth paste. These items were a staple of the gift baskets provided annually. The employees of Wiley Metal came together, and within 1 week donated more than 200 tooth brushes and 100 tubes of tooth pastes. Ben Wiley, son of Ed Wiley, explained “This is the culture of Wiley Metal, we are a family first and foremost.
