VIA CREDIT UNION WINS STATE-LEVEL AWARDS.

The Indiana Credit Union League (ICUL) recently selected Via Credit Union as the Second Place winner of both the 2017 Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Community Service Award and 2017 Desjardins Adult Financial Literacy Award for credit unions of $200-500 million in assets. In addition, Honorable Mention credits were awarded for the 2017 Louise Herring Philosophy in Action Member Service Award.
The Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Community Service Award is given to a credit union for its social responsibility projects within the community. ViaCU received this award for the Nurse’s Aid program, which raises money to provide local school nurses with items typically not funded by schools.
The Desjardins Adult Financial Literacy Award recognizes leadership within the credit union movement on behalf of adult financial literacy. ViaCU was recognized in this category for the partnership with the City of Marion and Salvation Army to provide budget building classes to individuals seeking assistances through the H20 Community Fund.
The Louise Herring Philosophy in Action Member Service Award recognizes credit unions that demonstrate in an extraordinary way the practical application of credit union philosophy. ViaCU was recognized in this category for spreading random acts of kindness throughout the community to celebrate 80 years of service.
“Via Credit Union is committed to the credit union philosophy of ‘People Helping People’ and the communities where our members and staff live and work,” said Michelle Peterson, Marketing Manager at Via Credit Union. “We are humbled to be recognized by the Indiana Credit Union League for that commitment.”
Nominations were reviewed and judged at the state-level, and ICUL announced the winners at the 2017 Annual Meeting and Convention in Indianapolis on September 22. Information about Via Credit Union, membership and products/service offerings can be found at www.viacu.org.
