VIA CREDIT UNION WINS STATE-LEVEL AWARDS

The Indiana Credit Union League recently selected Via Credit Union as the First Place winner of the 2015 Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Community Service Award and Desjardins Adult Financial Literacy Award for credit unions of $200-500 million in assets.
The Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Community Service Award is given to a credit union for its social responsibility projects within the community.  ViaCU received this award for its involvement with the Samaritan’s Feet Day of Service, which provides shoes and socks to children in need.

The Desjardins Adult Financial Literacy Award recognizes leadership within the credit union movement on behalf of adult financial literacy. ViaCU was recognized in this category for its Seminars in the Community initiative which brings awareness of financial stress in the workplace and educating about personal finance through seminars.

“Via Credit Union is committed to the credit union philosophy of ‘People Helping People’ and the communities where our members and staff live and work,” said Michelle Peterson, Marketing Manager at Via Credit Union. “We are humbled to be recognized by the Indiana Credit Union League for that commitment.”

Nominations were reviewed and judged at the state-level, and ICUL announced the winners at the 2015 Annual Meeting and Convention in Indianapolis on October 9.  As a first place winner in each category, ViaCU will advance to the national competition. CUNA will recognize national winners at the 2016 CUNA Governmental Affairs Conference in Washington, D.C.
