Taylor University Lyric Theatre will present Gilbert and Sullivan’s comic musical masterpiece The Pirates of Penzance in the Butz Carruth Recital Hall on February 2nd and 3rd at 8pm and February 4th at 2pm. The story follows a rollicking band of Pirates who clash with a very proper English Major General and seek to marry his many daughters. Complete with dancing policeman and a fiery pirate nursery maid, the operetta has been an audience favorite since its premiere. Combining Sullivan’s exquisite vocal and instrumental writing with Gilbert’s brilliantly witty texts, it provides societal parody, a love story, and constant hilarity.

Taylor University Lyric Theatre was recognized in 2015 and 2017 with national awards for productions of Amahl and the Night Visitors and Gianni Schicchi. Tickets are $10 in the Music Office or at the door.
