Marion Regional Career Center to offer cyber forensic certification program

The Marion Regional Career Center is pleased to announce that a new Cyber Hacking Forensic Investigator Certification Program for high school students in the Cyber Security and Information Technology Academy.
The pilot program will allow students to learn the investigation techniques needed to detect hacking attacks and properly extract the evidence need to report the crime while at the same time conducting audits to prevent future incidents from occurring.
“By 2022 there will be a shortfall of 3.5 million individuals with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to prepare for and respond to the new cybersecurity world,” said Dr. Travis Hueston, instructor of the Cyber Security and Information Technology Academy at MRCC. “There is a hacker attack every 39 seconds in the United States. By providing this program in conjunction with our Ethical Hacking Program, we have the ability to offer every student this real-life work experience. To my knowledge, we are the only school in the state to offer such a well-rounded program to high school students.”
MRCC Director Mike Ripperger said they are pleased to be able to offer such a high-quality program to students in Marion and Grant County.
“The Cyber Security and Information Technology Academy continues to provide opportunities for students to excel in areas that are proven to be experiencing job growth, which will prepare them for the workforce after graduation,” Ripperger said. “Dr. Hueston and I continually work with our state partners to create an IT Curriculum Pathway that can be implemented throughout the state of Indiana.”
MRCC’s excellent career prep and advanced college opportunities are one of the reasons why students attend the Marion Regional Career Center. MRCC programs are available to students from schools around the county as well.
