Marion Community Schools is pleased to announce that Little Giants Preschool Director Kerri Wortinger has been appointed to the Indiana Early Learning Advisory Council.

ELAC works to ensure that children ages birth to 8 years and their families have access to affordable, high-quality early childhood education programs that keep children health, safe, and learning.

The committee was established in 2013 by the Indiana General Assembly. Committee members are appointed by the governor; the committee includes representation from the FSSA Office of Early Childhood and Out-of-School Learning, the Indiana Department of Education, Indiana Head Start State Collaboration Office, early childhood education programs, the business sector and the faith-based community.

Wortinger was among three new appointees to the committee announced recently by Governor Eric Holcomb’s office, and four reappointments.

MCS is proud of Wortinger’s dedication to early childhood education, and we are pleased that she will have this opportunity and platform to advocate for expanded access to high quality preschool for all children and families. We know that high quality preschool provides a strong foundation for lifelong learning, and that for children in high poverty areas, like ours, that strong foundation can be life-changing.
