Family Service Society, Inc. is looking for 100 Good Men.
Each year Family Service Society, Inc. conducts the 100 Good Men Campaign, a community awareness initiative focused on the importance of healthy men in the lives of our children, families and communities. Research indicates that 24-million children nationwide are living in a father-less home and those children are four times more likely to live in poverty, drop out of high school and have a greater risk of substance abuse. Our goal with this campaign is to focus on the two thirds of homes with Men who consistently:
Show Up in the lives of children
Stand Up for what is right
Speak Up when it matters most.
These good men are vital to Grant County, where our children are living in one of the highest poverty rates in the state and where heroin/opioid use is at an all-time high.
“It is important for children to have an active positive male role model in their lives. These children are at less risk of psychological and behavioral problems.” says Lisa Dominisse, President/CEO. “When children have a father, uncle, grandfather, brother, cousin, teacher, pastor or other male role model that take an active interest in them it helps them feel special, learn unconditional love, respect and it can inspire kids for the rest of their lives.”
According to fathers.com, if a child’s father is affectionate, supportive, and involved, he contributes greatly to a child’s cognitive, language, and social development, as well as academic achievement, sense of well-being, good self-esteem and authenticity.
In efforts to create awareness of this important relationship, FSSI is looking for nominations for not just fathers, but all of the good men that are helping shape the lives of our children. Those interested may nominate up to four (4) good men with a $100 tax-deductible donation and those nominations can be submitted by calling, Iris Brunner (765) 662-9971 x 103 or by visiting www.famservices.com/100gm/.
Those nominated will be featured in a Father’s Day advertisement, the electronic Billboard in Marion, as well as receive a certificate for their nomination. The deadline to nominate is June 11, 2019.
The goal of the campaign is to raise $25,000. Those dollars will directly benefit children and families for the prevention of abuse and care for those who have experienced domestic violence.
Corporate sponsorships are available by contacting Iris Brunner, firstname.lastname@example.org or (765) 662-9971 x 103. For more information about the services provided by Family Service Society, Inc. and the mission we serve, please visit www.famservices.com.
