Afena Federal Credit Union to Host Free Community Shred Day on August 8
Marion, IN (July 17, 2020) – Afena Federal Credit Union will be holding its sixth annual free community Shred Day on Saturday, August 8 from 9 am to noon. The event will be held at Afena’s South Marion branch which is located near Kohl’s and is open to the public. There is no limit to the amount of paper that can be dropped off for shredding and all documents will be confidentially shredded by Iron Mountain.
Afena is committed to hosting this free event for the community each year as a way to help prevent identity theft and encourage the safe and secure disposal of items containing personal information. Community members should bring un-needed documents containing personal information such as old bank statements, unneeded bills, expired credit cards, and any other confidential documents that may contain personal identifying information.
To ensure the safety of event participants, social distancing protocol will be strictly observed and all staff will be wearing masks. If at all possible, individuals should transport any bags or boxes of paper needing to be shredded in the trunk of their vehicle to allow for contactless removal by Afena staff members.
